Edward J. Donaher

Edward J. Donaher Sr., 89, of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. He was born in Bethlehem, son of the late Joseph C. and Wilhelmina (Benz) Donaher. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen (Pastir) Donaher.

Ed served as a police officer for the Bethlehem Police Department for over 20 years and retired as Chief of Police in 1970. He was a life member of the Chiefs of Police Association, a member of the F.O.P. Star Lodge #20 and a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Trinity Council 313. He was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem, where he was also a member of their Holy Name Society. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Helen; sons, Edward Jr. and wife, Lonna and Joseph and wife, Marie; grandchildren, Shawn, Colleen Myers (Eric), Erin Ford (Adam) and Patrick; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Richard, Joseph and Charles; and sisters, Marie and Wilhelmina.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, where visitation will be held on Monday June 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, in the St. Anne's Church, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
