Edward L. Longenbach, Sr.

June 22, 1935 — January 28, 2012

Edward L. Longenbach, Sr., 76, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at home. He lived in Allentown with his longtime companion, Marilyn Young Hollinger. Born in Northampton on June 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Clyde and Anna Binder Longenbach.

Edward worked as a laborer in the plant of the former Bethlehem Steel Co. from 1968 to 1991. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the Raccoon Club. He belonged to the Petersville Rod & Gun Club. He also enjoyed working on cars. He was known as a great cook; his family especially enjoyed his homemade chocolate cakes, cinnamon rolls and pierogies.

He will be lovingly remembered by Marilyn, his sons Edward Jr., and wife Nancy, of Allentown, and Christopher of Ithaca N.Y., step-sons Daniel Hollinger of Reading and Michael Hollinger, and his wife Kim, of Stony Creek Mills. Also surviving are brothers Kenneth, Franklin, Larry, Dennis and Carl and sisters Barbara Huffman, Joyce Frey, Darlene Hartraft and Marlene Vargavich. He will also be missed by grandchildren Andrea, Crystal, and Christopher Longenbach, Keith and Ryland Hollinger and great grandchildren Alex, Autumn and Hunter. He was predeceased by brothers Steven and Robert and sister Jean D. Kollar.

Services will begin at 11:00 am Wed., Feb. 1, 2012 in Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Viewing from 6:00 -8:00 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and 10:00 -11:00 am Wed. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery.
