George Lees

George Lees, 80, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, August 24, 2013. He was born September 24, 1932 in Bronx, NY; son of the late James Lees and the late Mary Lees Drachmas.

George served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He retired as a supervisor from Pan Am Airlines. He was the owner and operator of Joanies Luncheonette in Bethlehem. George was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Maria (Karukas) Lees; son, James; daughter, Stephanie; sister, Margaret Miller and his grandchildren, Jennifer, Angela and Christopher and a great grandson, Christian. George was preceded in death by his step-father, Christo Drachmas; sister, Virginia Valianatos and brother, John Lees.

Arrangements have been entrusted to The Connell Funeral Home.

Services: 11 am on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1607 W. Union Blvd. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10-11 am in the Cathedral. Burial with military honors will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
