Helen I. Kresge

Helen I. Kresge, 97, of Nazareth, formerly from Allentown, Bethlehem and Bath, went home to be with her precious Lord and family on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Born in Bethlehem, Helen was the daughter of the late Stephen and Frances (Korpics) Shamenek. Helen graduated from Bethlehem High School. Helen was the wife of the late Carlton D. Kresge for 54 years before his death. Helen was a devoted wife and mother and loved everyone she met. Helen was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and took her faith very seriously. Helen was a current member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bath and a past member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bethlehem and St. Stephens of Hungary in Allentown. Over the past many years, Helen assisted the parish priests with many church functions and did it with grace, dignity and love. Helen was a member of St. Anns Little Helpers Shrine in Bethlehem and the Blue Army Shrine in New Jersey. Helen loved to serve the Lord and her family and never had a harsh word about anyone.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her devoted daughter in-law Imogene Kresge of Bath, son James and his wife Mary Jo of California, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friend to the end, Father John Conti. Helen was predeceased by her parents, 10 brothers Frank, Stephen, John, Joseph, Charles, George, Louis, George, Thomas and Daniel, 4 sisters, Mother Mary Irmina Shamenek O.S.F, Anna P. Gerras, Theresa Kruszenwski and Frances Shamenek and 2 sons, Carl Stephen Kresge in November of 1993 and Robert Russell Kresge in October of 2007.

Viewing, 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Bath. Interment at Holy Savior Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, Helen wanted all contributions to be made to the Arc of Lehigh and Northampton County (SPARC Adult Training Facility), 2289 Avenue A, Bethlehem, PA 18017 or Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 210 E. Northampton St., Bath, PA18014.
