Mary J. Chaback, 87, of Bethlehem died Saturday September 23, 2006 at the Hospice of The VNA of St. Luke?s, Lower Saucon Twp. Born, April 14, 1919, in Bethlehem she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Svarny Sopko. She was the wife of the late Michael Chaback.Mary worked as a char woman in the Bethlehem Steel Co. main office. She was a member of: SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Slovak Catholic Sokals, Wreath 32, Ladies PA Slovak Catholic Union, Branch 83, and First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Branch 89.She will be lovingly remembered by: son, Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Chaback and niece, Mary Ann Snell, both of Bethlehem. She was preceded in death by: brothers, John and Stephen Sopko and, sister, Helen Tindula.A 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will held on Wednesday September 27th at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 617 Pierce St; Bethlehem, PA 18015. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.Memorials may be made to the church.
