Mary Lou (Itinger) Shuman, 91, of Bethlehem, Lake Wallenpaupack, and Hawley, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at home.
Born on March 10, 1931, in Alexandria, PA, she was a daughter of the late Alton and Nellie (Nelson) Itinger.
A graduate of Shippensburg University, Mary Lou went on to enjoy a thirty-three-year career as an elementary school teacher with the Allentown School District.
Outside of work, she was a member of Grace Church of Bethlehem, the Bethlehem Garden Club, PSAR, and PSEA.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Shuman, who passed away in 1998, and her brother Donald Itinger in 2020.
Mary Lou will be lovingly remembered by five nieces: Jeanne Genzlinger, of Hawley, PA; Jayme Trott, of Newtown, PA; Sherie Munday, of Allentown, PA; Bonnie Shuman of Wayne, PA; and Sali Rose, Costa Rica; nephew: John Shuman of Pittsford, NY; as well as several other close nieces and nephews. Her sister, Dorothy Morgan, of Ft. Myers, FL, also survives.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Church of Bethlehem, 521 East Locust Street, Bethlehem, PA, 18018, on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 2:00pm
A private interment will be held in Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem.
