Stephen F. Szopacs, 78, of Bethlehem, died on Monday, September 8, 2008 at his residence.
He was born January 4, 1930 in Palmerton, PA the son of the late Louis and Rosa Szopacs.
Stephen proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Warearning the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star and Purple Heart Medal. Stephen retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he served as a mechanic and later worked in the Building Maintenance Dept. Earlier Stephen worked for the Bethlehem Steel Co.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family, daughter Hedy Szopacs-Hydro and her husband James of Bethlehem; son Steven Szopacs and his wife Jeanof Catasaqua; grandson Eric Szopacs and his fianc Sharon Grotz of Bethlehem and Stephen's great granddaughter Autumn.
Stephen was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans ofForeign Wars Post 2124.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 9-10AM at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem with aservice to celebrate Stephen's life to follow at 10 AM in the funeralhome.
Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
