Thomas W. Del Mastro, 66, of Allentown died on Friday, September 15, 2017.

Our beloved friend, Tom Delmastro, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 15th. Tom was hospitalized after surgery and suffered many setbacks. Tom was an advocate, volunteer, friend, helper, Good Samaritan, disc jockey, trainer, patriot, collector, music lover, artist, comedian, and lover of life. Tom spent his time giving back to his community by volunteering with Second Harvest, Musikfest, Christkindlemart, Arts Quest, Rejoicing Spirits, and LifePath. Tom received many accolades and awards during his lifetime honoring him for his countless hours of volunteering. Tom presented a training across Northeast Pennsylvania on what it was like to live in Pennhurst Institution. Toms memory for places and names was astounding. He could often be found reminiscing about friends that have passed before him. Toms life story would be longer then all Harry Potter books combined. He lived life to the fullest and had quite a colorful past. Tom was a good friend to many. He brightened the day of all he met with his compassion and wit. I think everyone of his friends has many “Tom stories”.

Tom spent his young adult life at Pennhurst Institution. He has shared many stories with his friends about the positive and negative experiences he had living in an institution. After Pennhurst closed he moved into a community home. Tom met with some challenges adjusting to the freedom of his own home. Tom joined the Lifepath family in 1998 at the Airport Road home he shared with two housemates. Tom made and kept lasting friendships throughout the community. Tom always stood up for the rights of those less fortunate then him. He knew how to treat people and how other should be treated. He was a proponent for the Golden Rule.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Life Path, Inc.
