Agnes Gombosi

Agnes Gombosi, one week shy of her 105th birthday, passed away on January 7, 2025, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. She was born January 14, 1920, in Bethlehem, PA, to the late Idzi and Marianna (Czuba) Gawlik. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Stephen A. Gombosi.

Agnes is a parishioner of Incarnation of Our Lord Parish and former parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the St. Joseph Women's Guild, and St. Joseph Roman Catholic Society.

Agnes worked as a seamstress at the Muriel Dress Company and served as secretary and past chair for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She also worked as a clerk in her daughter's store, Distinctive Accents. Upon retirement, Agnes appreciated spending her winters in Clearwater, Florida.

She loved music and found great joy in dancing. Agnes found great peace in reading a good book and enjoyed sewing and going to the casino.

Agnes will be dearly missed by her son, Robert S. Gombosi, daughters, Kathleen M. Lippert, Rosemary S. Tarola and husband, Gary, and Maryann Hartzell and husband, Robin, as well as her grandchildren, William, Robert, and Marc Gombosi, Lisa Lilienthal, Dr. Nicholas, and Michael Tarola, and Jonathan Hartzell, 11 great grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Edward, sister, Maryann Hancharick, and son-in-law, Joseph M. Lippert.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 8:45-9:45 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 417 E. 5th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
