Agnes M. Velas

April 30, 1928 — February 22, 2022

Agnes Maryann (Ford) Velas was born on April 30, 1928 in Bethlehem, PA where she lived her whole life. She was the daughter of the deceased William and Anna (Kuchera) Ford, and graduated from SS. Cyril and Methodius School, and Liberty High School. She was married to the deceased Joseph Velas in 1949.

During her lifetime, Agnes dedicated most of her time to raising her three children. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. She was known for her baking skills and often helped out in parish events, especially noodle making. Sewing was a big part of her life as she made so many of her own clothes and those of her family. Her embroidered table cloths dressed the tables of many relatives and friends. Later in retired years, she spent many hours visiting the sick of the parish with her companion, deceased Sr. Lawrence Waxman. Her biggest passion was playing bingo where she spent much social time with her friends.

Agnes was a woman of faith, had a strong devotion to Mary and the rosary. She was a life-long member of SS Cyril and Methodius Parish, now known as Incarnation of the Lord Parish and part of its Senior Group.

Agnes loved her children and grandchildren: daughter, Sr Roseann Velas, and her two sons, Joseph (Joann) Velas, and Dennis Velas., grandchildren: Andrea, Christopher, David, and Carolynn. She is survived by her youngest brother, Thomas Ford and his wife, Patricia.

Pre-deceased in the family besides her husband, Joseph, and her parents, are her brothers, William Ford (Veronica) and James Ford (Mary), and daughter-in-law Deborah (Goch) Velas.
