Agnes R. Temmel

Agnes R. Temmel, age 84, died Friday, November 2, 2007 at the V.N.A. of St. Luke?s Hospice, Bethlehem. Born on January 20, 1923, she was a daughter of Joseph and Katharina Boden Hollshwandner, German immigrants from Austria-Hungary. Agnes went to Holy Ghost school and to Bethlehem Catholic High School, graduating in 1940. After working as a secretary at the Bethlehem Steel, she married Frank M. Temmel in 1944. They had three children: Matthew, Andreanne, and Lisbeth. Agnes dedicated the last 30 years of her life to caring for her youngest daughter, Lisbeth, who was disabled by diabetes and died on September 14 this year. Agnes suffered a stroke last week. A devoted member of St. Anne?s Catholic Church, Bethlehem, she will be sorely missed by friends and relatives.

Survivors: Sisters Caroline Hollshwandner and Elizabeth Drumheller of Bethlehem and Rose Marie Boerner of Perkasie; son Matt Temmel and his wife Chris Quinn-Brintnall, of Tacoma, Washington; daughter, Andreanne Rode, Sandy, Oregon; grandchildren Marie Rode, McMinnville, Oregon, and Mark and Dominic Temmel, Seattle, Washington; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Agnes was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Hollshwandner and Catharine Segletes and by her brothers Frank and Joseph Hollshwandner.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 5, at St. Anne?s, 405 Washington Ave., Bethlehem. Burial will follow at Holy Savior Cemetery. Arrangements Connell Funeral Home, Inc.
