Albert Martin Augelli

Albert Martin Augelli, 61, of Bethlehem died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born September 4, 1954 in Scranton he was the son of Gloria A. (Montella) Augelli of Bethlehem and the late Martin J. Augelli.

Albert was an experienced secondary education High School Guidance Counselor at Phillipsburg High School from 1997-2016. He previously worked as a guidance counselor for DePaul High School in Wayne, NJ and Sacred Heart High School in Carbondale, PA. Albert had a passion for baseball and coached at the Ted Williams Baseball Camp, Princeton University Baseball Camp, Sacred Heart High School in Carbondale, PA, DePaul High School in Wayne, NJ, Lafayette College Baseball Camp, DeSales University Baseball Camp and Phillipsburg High School Baseball Camp.

Albert graduated from West Scranton High School in 1972, where he was an all star third baseman and graduated from the University of Scranton with a BS in Secondary Education and a Masters Degree in Counselor Education. While at the University of Scranton he played baseball and was named the Mid-Atlantic Conference First Team Third Baseman, Tri-Captain University of Scranton Baseball Team, Whos Who Among College Students, nominated as Jaycees 1984 “Outstanding Young Man.” He also received the Passiac County Coaches Association Honor Award in 1997.

Albert will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Gloria Augelli of Bethlehem, sisters, Dr. Linda Augelli-Hodor(Robert) of Bethlehem and Dr. Corinne Augelli-Szafran(Joseph) of Homewood, AL, nieces, Sarah Hodor, Holly and Amy Szafran and nephews, Nathan Hodor(Ashley) and Dylan Szafran.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 7-9 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 9:30-11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Annes Catholic Church 450 E. Washington Ave., Bethlehem, Pa 18017 at 12 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
