Alfonso Nitowski, 92, of Bethlehem, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born December 17, 1913 in Poland, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary NawrockiNitowski. He was the loving husband of Marianna Zakrzewska Nitowski for 32 years prior to her death in 2002.
Alfonso worked for Bethlehem Steel as an Electrician for over 40 years. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Bethlehem. He will be lovingly remembered by, his nieces, Jean Debrenko of Bethlehem, Wanda Hoadley of VA and family, Teresa Stuter of FL and family, Diane Tarhan of MD and family, Christine Kuplen of Bethlehem and family, Ryszarda Warzocha-Rurka and Barbara Dziegielewska both of Poland and families,
and a sister-in-law, Doris "Jean" Nitowski of Whitehall and family.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Chester, Emil and Henry Nitowski and a sister Ann Yastizebski. Services: A Funeral Service will be held, Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church 429 Hayes St. Bethlehem. Visitation will be Saturday, November 18, 2006 from 8-9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
