Alfred C. "Shoey" Vargo, 75, of Hellertown died on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Valley Manor Nursing and Rehab Center, Coopersburg

He was born in Fountain Hill, the son of the late Charles and Theresa Bohar Vargo.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Joan Bandurich Vargo of Hellertown; his sister Dorothy Fluck of Bethlehem and will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Al worked as a Prudential Insurance Representative for over 30 years and was a member of SS Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, the American Legion and VFW.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Al enjoyed playing sports and was an avid outdoorsman. He was one of the founding members of the Miller Heights Roosevelt Club Golf League. He won several golf tournaments, including the Lehigh Valley Amateur Golf Championship in 1965 and he was also the first to capture the Bethlehem City Golf Championship.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 6-8 PM at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem with Parastas to be held at 6PM. On Monday, February 11, 2008 visitation will be from 8:30-9:30 at the funeral home. Panachida to be held on Monday at 9 AM in the funeral home.

Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 1140 Johnston Dr. Bethlehem; Monday, February 11, 2008 at 10AM.

Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem
