Alma H. Hoyak

Alma H. Hoyak, 88, of Bethlehem, passed peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2014. She was born June 7, 1925; daughter of the late Stanley and Cecilia (Kwas) Antkiewicz. Alma was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Vincent Joseph Hoyak.

After lovingly raising her family, Alma began her career as a bookkeeper. She worked for Adams Clothing, Hesss Dept. Store, Thorton Jewelers and eventually retired from Lutron after 12 years of service at the age of 82. Alma was very active throughout her life; she was a founding member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church; she was a member of 24-7 Fitness from its opening, well into her 80s and she enjoyed shopping, traveling and theatre.

Alma will be dearly missed by her daughters, Pamela Bowerman and her husband, John of Maryland; Jill Perlman and her husband, Alan of Bethlehem; sons, Curt Vincent Hoyak and his wife, Joyce of Bethlehem and Christopher Kent Hoyak of Georgia; grandchildren, Katherine, Jaclyn, James and his wife, Hayley, Amanda, Lindsay, Jessica, Adam, Sean, Chloe, Seever and Sawyer and two great grandchildren, Noah and Brecken.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 10:30-11:30 AM at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Thursday at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Interment will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
