Alton L. Fritz

Alton “Scoop” L. Fritz, 84, of Whitehall, passed away in South Carolina on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was born on September 14, 1936, the son of the late Mamie (Flore) and Charles Fritz. He was the loving husband of the late Marie C. (McGinnis) Fritz.

Scoop proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Cowboys, Dodgers and Duke basketball. He enjoyed many years of coaching CYO sports at St. Annes Church and also being a basketball referee around the area. He was his grandchildrens number one fan, known to many at their sporting events as “Soccer Poppy.”

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Lisa Eaton and Rita Spadt; son, Thomas C. Fritz and his wife Angel; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Scoop was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Fritz and son in law, Chad Spadt.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 9-11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
