Andrew J. Gyecsek

Andrew J. Gyecsek, 85, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Hospice House of St. Lukes. He was born May 11, 1925, the son of the late Andrew and Theresa Gyecsek. Andrew is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Edith Silvius Gyecsek. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant during WWII. Andrew retired from the Bethlehem Steel Co. where he worked in the Rolling Mills. He was proud of the fact that he only missed two days of work in his 44 year career. Andrew was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Bethlehem.

Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Edith; daughter, Cynthia Heil, of Chalfont; son, Ronald E. Gyecsek and his wife, Sharon, of Nazareth; his sister, Helen Gyecsek, of Whitehall; three grandchildren, Stacey Polgar, Mallory Gyecsek and Melissa Mattson; and his three great grandchildren, Kristen, Stephen and Amelia. Andrew was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Steve and Frank; and his sister, Mary.

Services: A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Hope Cemetery.
