Andrew J. Sotak, 82, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Holy Family Manor.

He was born April 4, 1929 in Ormrod, PA; the son of the late Michael and Mary Gyongya Sotak.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Frances E. Jost Sotak.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Andrew began his career as a Bethlehem Police Officer in January of 1959. He retired as Captain after 31 years of service to the community in January of 1990.

Andrew had a passion for flying earning his pilot's license in August of 1983. He enjoyed flying his plane with his wife, who also had her pilot's license.

He was an avid reader, enjoyed shooting at the gun range, found peace in contemporary music and was an astronomy enthusiast. Andrew also loved to cook and go out to eat, especially for Chinese food and soft shelled crabs. He also loved root beer barrels and enjoyed watching the history channel.

Andrew will be lovingly remembered by his wife; son, Alan Sotak and his wife Patti of Slatington; daughters, Andrea Solderitch and her husband Greg of Bethlehem and Claire Williams and her husband Ron of Bethlehem; Nancy O'Keefe and her husband Joseph Colosi of Emmaus; Cassandra Barr of Pottstown and Dierdre Ueberroth of Wyoming, Pa. Andrew will also be dearly missed by his sister Maryann Ramer of Whitehall, eight grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew, sister, Margaret Bartos and brother, Ronald Sotak.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 12 to 1 PM at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 12 at 1:30 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem PA 18020.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare 1165 Island Park Rd. Easton, PA 18042.
