Andrew Kopac, Jr.

November 13, 1928 — December 27, 2007

Andrew Kopac, Jr. 79 of Bethlehem, Hanover Township died suddenly Thursday Dec. 27th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenburg. He is the husband of the late Margaret A. Yanek Kopac who died in 2001.

Born in Hazin, Slovakia he is the son of the late Andrew and Anna Kopac. Andrew came to America at the age of 21. He worked for Bethlehem Steel Co. for 42 years retiring in 1992 as a craneman. He was a member of USW AFL CIO Local 2598.

He was a very kind, charitable and spiritual individual. He attended daily mass most of his life and was devoted to the rosary. He helped to sponsor many religious men and women via CNEWA Catholic Near East Welfare Association.

He loved and cherished his three grandchildren. He also became a fan of football and especially enjoyed cheering for the Phila. Eagles.

He was a long time member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Bethlehem.

Surviving is his daughter Mary Ann wife of Timothy Tangel of Smithtown, N.Y. and his son Mark A. Kopac of Bethlehem. He is also survived by his brothers Amborse and Joseph both of Hellertown, Pa. and his three grandchildren; Pamela, Kathleen and William. He was preceded in death by his 14 year old sister who died in Slovakia.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday Dec. 31st at 9:15 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home 245 East Broad St. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in SS Cyril and Methodius Church 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, Pa.

Visitation will be Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
