Angel Vazquez

Angel Vazquez, Sr., 91, of Bethlehem passed away at Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Allentown. Born July 11, 1922 in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Guillermo and Juana (Olivera) Vazquez. He was married to Rosa (Diaz) Vazquez with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage until her death on December 10, 2001.

Angel dedicated his life to God and for caring for Holy Infancy School and Church for 42 years retiring in 1996. He was also very active in the church as a member of the Holy Name Society, Cofradia Cursillista, The Legion of Mary and served as a Eucharistic Minister. In his free time Angel liked to work in his garden.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Jose and wife Linda of MD; Angel, Jr. and wife Cindy of VA; Nelson and wife Lillian of Bethlehem; and Frank and wife Marissa of MI; daughters, Olga wife of Kevin Eroh of Allentown; Maria wife of Manny Madera of Bethlehem; Carmen wife of Emilio Torres of Bethlehem; and Lydia Vazquez of FL; daughter-in-law, Ilia Vazquez of Bethlehem; brother, Jose Vazquez of Puerto Rico; sisters, Ana Vazquez and Carmen Vazquez both are in Puerto Rico; 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Luis Vazquez; and sisters, Esperanza Rosado and Josephina Vazquez.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. Fourth St., Bethlehem, PA 18015 at 9 a.m. with a viewing in the church from 8-9 a.m. Burial will be at Nisky Hill Cemetery in Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Angels name to Holy Infancy Catholic Church.
