Anna Czap

November 14, 1919 — January 29, 2013

Anna Czap, 93, of Bethlehem, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. Born on Nov. 14, 1919 in Buck Run, PA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Urban Dembitsky and was the widow of Geza Czap who passed away in 1978. She was the eldest of nine children and was preceded in death by her five brothers, two sisters and her granddaughter, Stacie.

Anna worked for Bethlehem Steel in the Shell Shop during WW II and later in the Silk Mills of Bethlehem. From 1965 to 1978 she was a House Mother at Lehigh University, then in 1980 and for the next 27 years, Anna was a devoted housekeeper for her parish priest at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bethlehem. She retired at the age of 86.

She was a member of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church and served for 25 years as the treasurer of the church's Ladies Auxiliary.

Anna will be dearly missed by her daughter, Annette Czap Kilpatrick and her husband, Larry, of Harrisburg; her sons, Albert and his wife, Linda, of Schuylkill Haven; and Michael and his wife, Kathleen, of Palmerton; her sister, Julia Schappell, of Loveland, Ohio; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank her long-time friend and caregiver, Helen Karol for all her devotion and special love and attention she gave to our mother during her illness. Many thanks also, to the nurses, doctors, aides and personnel that have shared their skills, talents and expertise with our mother during her life journey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 06, 2013 at 10 AM at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1826 Kenmore Ave. Bethlehem. Visitation will be from 9-10 AM in the church. Interment will be in St. Josaphat's Cemetery, Bethlehem, PA.

Memorials may be made in Anna's name to St. Josaphat's Church, 1826 Kenmore Ave., Bethlehem, PA or to St. Luke's Hospice House, 2455 Black River Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18015.
