Anna M. Doddy

Mrs. Anna M. (Blihar) Doddy of Salisbury Township passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospice. She was 91 years old. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of Anna Sniscak and Louis Blihar.

Anna attended Ss. Cyril & Methodius grade school, Broughal Middle School & Liberty High School. She was a seamstress for the former Laros Co. She was a member of Incarnation Church, Bethlehem, The National Sokols Gymnastic Union, Aux. member of the U.S. Veterans of the Lehigh Valley, The Hellertown American Legion & The order of the Purple Heart.

Anna was very patriotic & served as President of the Bethlehem Chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers for 30 years. She attended many civic functions, parades and ceremonies in the Lehigh Valley addressing the audiences with her speeches, invocations & convocations. She did volunteer work for the Ss. Cyril & Methodius Parish, the Allentown State Hospital & the Veteran's Clinic in Allentown.

She was an avid bowler, gymnast in her youth, and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

She was predeceased by husband, Vincent, who died in 2006; they were married 60 years; son, Victor in 1968, a casualty of the Vietnam War; sisters, Elizabeth Horninger, and Irene Silbert.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Vincent; sister, Catherine Yencho; sister-in-law, Rose Doddy; 20 nieces & nephews; 32 great nieces & nephews; and 11 great great nieces & nephews.

She was a very caring wife & mother; she will be sadly missed by her devoted son, family & local veteran's community.

Viewing hours will be held on Wednesday July 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem. An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will follow on Thursday at Incarnation of Our Lord Church, 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
