Anna Maria Markmann of Easton, PA, formerly of Union, NJ., passed away on January 4, 2012 at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Easton, PA. She was 103 years old. Anna was born September 13, 1908 in Stuttgart, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Max and Pauline Niederbacher and immigrated to the United States in 1929. Anna had four older brothers.
Anna lived in Union, NJ for fifty years and moved to the Alexandria Manor assisted living home in Bethlehem, PA, in 2008. She was a home maker and worked as a waitress for many years at the Bulova Watch Company and the exclusive Essex Club in Newark, NJ. She served such notables as Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Omar Bradley and several New Jersey Governors.
Anna's husband, Hans Markmann, passed away in 1995. They were married for 62 years. She is survived by her son, Donald, of Hackettstown, NJ and his wife, Barbara; grandchildren Heidi Healy and her husband, Thomas and Donald John Markmann; and Great-grandchildren Ryan, Timothy and Sarah Healy.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Max, Eugene, Irwin and Haus Niederbacher.
Anna 's family will receive friends on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 6-8PM at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a ceremony to immediately follow.
Entombment will be held on Monday January, 9, at Hollywood Memorial Park Mausoleum at 12 PM.
