Annie S. Pacala, 88, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey. Born in Bethlehem on March 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Fenka "Fannie" (Shyshka) Sawarynski. She was the wife of the late Bohdan T. Pacala. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage before his death in 2012. After graduating from Liberty High School in 1942, Annie went on to work at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation and the Just Born Candy Company before becoming a housewife. She was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Allentown.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Luba Pacala, wife of Willie Joe Carter of Texas, and Nadine, wife of James Hartnett of New Jersey; grandchildren, Alexandra and Michael Carter, and Evan Hartnett. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jennie Torick; and brothers, Michael and William.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday January 27th at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem. A prayer service will immediately follow the visitation. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
