Anthony J Barbera

Anthony J. Barbera, Jr. 89, of Bethlehem Twp., died on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Easton, the son of the late Anthony J. Barbera, Sr. and Jennie (Sanguedolce) Barbera. He was the loving husband of the late, Helen (Marcin) Barbera. They were married 56 years before her death in 2005.

Before retiring in 1984, Anthony worked for the former Western Electric as an Analyst. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in both Italy and South Africa. He was an avid golfer and 2 time winner of the Lehigh Valley Senior Golf Tournament. He loved trips to Vegas, cooking, listening to music, playing the slots on his iPad, and keeping up with his granddaughter on Facebook. He was a member of the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church.

Anthony will be lovingly remembered by his son, Anthony M. Barbera and wife, Lori of Allen Twp.; daughter, Jenean Barbera of Bethlehem Twp.; granddaughter, Gabrielle; sister, Mary, wife of Michael Romano; sister-in-law, Nancy, wife of Bill Zeky; and his many beloved nieces and nephews extending three generations. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Lukes Hospice, attn: Development Office, 801 Ostrum St. Bethlehem, PA 18015.
