Anthony J. Oravec

Anthony "Tony" J. Oravec, 91, of Bethlehem died Saturday October 17, 2009 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Twp. He was born June 13, 1918 in Bethlehem son of the late Martin and Mary Gasdaska Oravec.

Tony worked as a millwright for the Bethlehem Steel Co. for 42 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of Incarnation of Our Lord Parish Ss. Cyril & Methodius in Bethlehem. He also served in the US Army Engineers during WW II in the Pacific Theater. Tony was a member of the American Legion in Hellertown, St. Bernards Society, and the Saucon Valley Notre Dame Booster Club. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the University of Notre Dame. He attended football games at the University of Notre Dame for the past 69 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Michael P. Oravec, Joyce A. Raffensperger, Marie M. Jacobs, Sandra A. Oravec, Anne Marie Petrilla, Thomas A. Petrilla, Martin G. Oravec, David M. Petrilla and Susan K. Polak.

He was predeceased by brothers John and Martin, and sisters, Anna Petrilla, and Mary Stegmuller.

A Prayer Service will be held 10:30am on Thursday October 22, 2009 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11am at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18015. Calling hours will be held from 9-10:30am Thursday morning at the Connell Funeral Home.

Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
