Antonia Francioni “Bubsy” Kintzer, died after a brief illness on June 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 31, 1945, and raised in Scranton, PA. She was the daughter of the late Leona and Roy Francioni. She was predeceased by her younger sister Ernestine Bevilacqua.
In 1973, she married her high school sweetheart John S. Kintzer, Jr. M.D. They were happily married for fifty years.
She is survived by her husband John, two children, John Anthony (Erin) and Megan (Joseph Canone) and her beloved niece Danielle Bevilacqua (Tony Armao). She deeply loved her grandchildren, John Morgan and Gabrielle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and had a special relationship with her nephew, Geoffrey M. Kintzer of Arlington, VA.
She attended Scranton Public Schools and graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1963. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on elementary education from Wilkes College and a masters degree from the University of Scranton. After graduation, she taught at Frances Willard Elementary School in Scranton. Growing up, she was very active in the Girl Scouts, was a counselor at Girl Scout camp, and earned status as a Curved Bar.
After moving to Bethlehem, PA in 1978 she volunteered throughout the community, taught at Moravian Academy, and later loved working at Gail Gray for over twenty years. She treasured spending time with her family at their home in Cape May Point, NJ, never hesitated to stop at a yard sale, and loved celebrating the holidays and carrying on family traditions. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, flea markets, shopping, working, and staying busy. She was honest, loyal, loving, and strong.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and aunt, and a good friend. She will be dearly missed.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 9-9:45 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 450 E. Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. in the church. Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you support Habitat for Humanity or the Cape May Point Lake Lily Stewardship Trust.
