Antonio Ruiz

Antonio Ruiz, 81, of Bethlehem, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 24, 2013. He was born in Guaynilla, Puerto Rico; son of the late Aguedo Ruiz and Juana Soto-Ruiz. Antonio is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ramona.

Antonio worked for Ruggiero Trucking and later retired from Allied Maintenance at Lehigh University. He was a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church. Antonio became passionate about his vegetable garden and his flower beds. After retirement, there wasn't anything he wouldn't try to grow; including an orange tree. Most people will remember "Tony", as he was known to most, for his great smile and easy going personality.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Carmen Weaver and her husband, Rex of Bethlehem, Miriam Ruggiero of Easton and Nellie Perez and her husband, John of Bethlehem Twp.; sons, Jose and Rob both of Bethlehem; siblings, Praxedes Murphy; Milagros Tirado; Nilsa Ruiz and Luisa Ruiz; as well as 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and beloved dog, Chobey. Antonio was preceded in death by his sons, Manuel and Orlando Ruiz; four brothers and two sisters.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Sunday, January27, 2013. Another visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 8:30-9:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Infancy Catholic Church 312 E. Fourth St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial will be Private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Infusion Center, Bethlehem Campus c/o Development 801 Ostrum St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 and/or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
