Avis Mary Godbout

Avis Mary Godbout, 88, of Bethlehem Township, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Country Meadows in Bethlehem Township. She was the daughter of the late Elsie M. Murphy. Avis was married to Charles Godbout for 63 years until his death on April 16, 2013. Avis was a 1944 graduate of Mary Louis Academy in Queens, NY and a 1948 graduate of Colby College. After graduating college, she married her husband and was a devoted wife and mother. Avis worked briefly for the New York Times, and; was a literacy volunteer in Upstate, NY. She was an active member of St. Peters church in New Hampshire, and was a religious educator at St. Marys in Skaneateles. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and studying politics.

Avis will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Avis Thompson, wife of Charles of Saco, ME; sons, Blake J. Godbout and wife, Paula of Winchester, MA; Dr. Brett P. Godbout and wife Maryanne of Bethlehem, PA; and Scott M. Godbout and wife, Kay of Norfolk, VA. She will also be missed by her eight grandchildren, Christine, Scott, Phillip, Kyle, Erin, Jennifer, Indiana and Asher.

Services will be held at a later date in New Hampshire.
