Barbara A. Schaeffer

Barbara A. Schaeffer, 74, formerly of Allentown, died Thursday July 24th at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth, Pa.

Barbara had been the devoted wife of Harry "Art' Schaeffer for 46 years at the time of Art's death in 2003.

Born in Easton, Pa. she is the daughter of the late Frederick and Gertrude Kresch Bechtel.

Barbara has been a long time member of Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church in Allentown. She was a graduate of Easton Area High School and formerly employed by Bell Telephone in Easton.

She was an extremely pleasant person and was very devoted to her family and loved being around her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working in her home and garden.

Surviving are her three children, Lori, wife of Michael Vonelli of Bethlehem; James A. Schaeffer, husband of Diane of Schnecksville; and John A. Schaeffer, husband of Kim of Allentown; her five grandchildren; Valerie, Michael, Anthony, John and Lola. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy wife of Robert Straub of Bethlehem Township and Geraldine Castranova of Easton.

Funeral Services will begin on Monday at 9:15 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christian Church 444 N. Jasper St. Allentown. A visitation period will be held on Sunday, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home. Internment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
