Barbara Diane Steager

Barbara Diane Steager, Lt. United State Navy-Retired, 54, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St.Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. Born May 22, 1959 in Bethlehem she was the daughter of Richard and Mary (Leszcynski) Steager.



Barbara was a graduate of Liberty High School class of 1977, West Chester University class of 1981 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing. Upon leaving the Navy she worked as a nurse at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and then at AI Dupont Hospital in Delaware.

Barbara enjoyed reading, was very active with Native American groups, loved taking care of her flowers and volunteering her time at the Tri-State Bird Sanctuary in Delaware.

She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, OLPH Fellowship Club, Crimson Hatter Cruiser and the Red hat Society.

In addition to her parents Barbara is survived by her brother, Richard C. Steager, Jr. and wife Louise, niece, Melissa wife of Scott Penn, nephews, Jacob and Tyler Steager, uncle, John Leszcynski, several cousins and her beloved English Springer Spaniel, Hannah.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 7-9 PM. A calling period will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3219 Santee Rd, Bethlehem, PA 18020 from 9-10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.

Contributions may be made in Barbara's name to the Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research 110 Possum Hollow Road, Newark, Delaware 19711 or to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare 1165 Island Park Rd, Easton, PA 18042.
