Bernard B. Bankowski

Bernard B. Bankowski, 91, of Bethlehem, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Agnes M. (Baraniak) and Stanley J. Bankowski. He was the loving husband of Marie F. (Forstoffer) Bankowski.

Bernard was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where he was in the Fellowship Club. He proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the United States Navy and received a medal of distinction for his service. For 41 years Bernard worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. He was a member of the Freemansburg American Legion Post 17, the Mora Club, the USWA Local 2599 and The Heights A.A.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Marie; daughter, Sharon West and her husband Ricky of Olympia, WA; brother, Stanley Bankowski, Jr.; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Bankowski and a sister, Pauline Werkman.

A viewing will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 9-10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church or St. Lukes Hospice, C/O Development, 801 Ostrum St. Bethlehem, PA 18015.
