Bernard M. Burda

Bernard M. "Foggy" Burda, 88, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, December 22, 2017. He was born in Bethlehem; son of the late John and Mary (Smith) Burda. Bernard was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Patricia A. (Spudeck) Burda.

Upon graduation from high school, he proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. After the war, Bernard returned home and began his career working in HVAC with the Bethlehem Steel Corp. in the Combustion Dept. He was a parishioner of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. Bernard was well known for his model trains and he enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. Earlier in life, he was an avid bowler.

Bernard is survived by his stepson, Gary Kline and his wife, Debbie of Nazareth; his stepdaughter, Pati Reed and her husband, Ron of Bethlehem, with whom he resided. His grandchildren, Lindsay Johnson and her husband, Keith of Nazareth; Jennifer Busser and her husband, Patrick of Lititz, PA and Michelle Kline of Orlando, FL; great grandchildren, Hunter and Greyson Johnson and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Joseph Kline and his sister, Frances Omick and brothers, Eddie, John and Joe Burda.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Another visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017 with a Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will be held at Cedar Hill Memorial Park.
