Bernice D. Wash

Bernice "Bernie" Davis Wash died peacefully on August 14, 2015 at Sunrise Senior Living in Chesterfield, MO at the age of 91. Bernie is survived by her son, William Gheen Jr. and his wife, Lynne of Jacksonville, FL and her daughter, Nancy Gheen, of Chesterfield, MO. Bernies beloved grandchildren are William Gheen III, Megan Gheen Hambrook, Casey Gheen Powers, Amy Gheen Ruetz and Andrew Gheen. She is also survived by twelve wonderful great-grandchildren. Her death was preceded by her husbands: William Gheen, James Davis and William Wash who passed away in April of this year. Bernice was born on July 28, 1924 in Norwood, MA to Edna and James Lowe. She was a bookkeeping graduate and worked in accounting for a number of years. She later helped her second husband, Jim Davis, run the golf shop at the Bethlehem Steel Club. She was a volunteer for Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem PA for many years. Bernie lived her life to the fullest. She was an avid golfer, playing all of this country's great courses, as well as many courses in Europe. She played bridge throughout her life and was an active member of several dance clubs. As a doting grandmother, "Mema" loved spoiling her grandchildren on their frequent visits.

A funeral service will be held 10am Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA.18018 A viewing will be from 9:30-10am at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Holy Savior Cemetery. The family would like to thank BJC Hospice for their loving care during her final days.
