Bertha B. Sever

Bertha "Bea" B. Ballek Sever, 90, of Bethlehem died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Westminster Village in Allentown. Born March 14, 1919 in Bethlehem she was the daughter of the late Fannie Zisko and Joseph Ballek. She was married to Frank J. Sever with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing on December 14, 2000.

Bea work as a receptionist for the former Marsteller Insurance Company for 20 years. She was also the owner-operator of Frank's Lock and Key from 1960 to 1972, retiring in 1972. Bea was a member of St. John's Windish Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, where she was active in the Altar Society. Bea also served her church as a Sunday School Teacher.

Bertha will be lovingly remembered by her brother, William Ballek and wife Joan of Bethlehem and several nieces and nephews. Although she and her husband had no children they were God parents to 12 of their nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Chapman and five brothers, Rev. Stephen, Charles, Joseph, Alex and Louis Ballek.

SERVICES

A viewing will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 9-10 AM at St. John's Windish Lutheran Church 617 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 followed by a service at 10 AM. Burial will be at Bethlehem Memorial Park. Arrangements Connell Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial Contributions may be made in Bea's name to the church or to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Bethlehem 2545 Schoenersville Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18017 or to Westminster Village 803 N. Wahneta St. Allentown, PA 18109-.
