Betty-Jane (Kolb) Gow, 83, of Bethlehem, went to her eternal home on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. She was born on February 23, 1932 in Dover, NJ, the daughter of the late Clifford E. and Helen (Egbert) Kolb. Betty was predeceased by her husband, N. Wells Gow, Jr.; who passed on January 5, 2015. The two met on a blind date and shared over 60 years of marriage together. Betty-Jane graduated from Rockaway High School where she participated in girls basketball and field hockey. She subsequently graduated from nursing school and worked as a nurse in local doctors offices and hospitals in New Jersey. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for over 20 years, when her girls were younger. She was also a member of the Red Hats, the LV Scottish Society, and volunteered at the Sun Inn. Betty was a volunteer and office manager for the Micah Project, and a docent at the Kemerer Museum, where she established the herb garden and enjoyed decorating the museum for holidays. As a former member of Wesley UMC she participated in the bell and senior choir. She was an active member of Bethany UCC in Bethlehem, where she sang in the choir, chaired several committees, including the kitchen and funeral committees and was a peanut volunteer with Wells. She enjoyed music and was a talented pianist. Betty found great joy in her knitting and sewing, reading, flower gardens, baking, arts and crafts, decorating, traveling and entertaining.
Betty dedicated her life to her family and will be dearly missed by her children. She was predeceased by her daughter Betsy (Gow) Dominy and survived by son Allan Gow of Bethlehem, daughter Judy Peffley and her husband Kelly J. of Lebanon, PA, daughter Allison Duffy and her husband Michael of Bethlehem, Twp., son-in-law Mark Dominy of Apopka, FL, as well as her grandchildren, Shane and Alixandra Peffley and Sydney Duffy. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Clifford Kolb Jr.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, April11, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 am. at Bethany UCC, 600 W. Market St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A service will follow in the sanctuary.
