Carmella "Sis" Romano

Carmella “Sis” Romano, 97, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Holy Family Manor. She was born September 1, 1917 in Girardville, PA; daughter of the late Benjamin and Sue (Racco) Saraceno. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ponzi Romano.

Carmella retired owned and operated beauty salons for 70 years. She originally partnered with her sister at their salon, Deluxe and later she opened her own salon, La Boutique.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Mary Jo Tersigni and her husband, John of Bethlehem; son, Robert Vito Romano and his wife, Maureen of Wind Gap; sister, Elizabeth Joyce and brother, Angelo Saraceno. Carmella is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Tersigni and Danielle Tersigni Stevens; great grandchildren; Gianni Tersigni, Christa Johnson, Gia M. Tersigni and Skylar Stevens as well as her great-great granddaughter, Gianna. Carmella was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Michael and Johnny.

A visitation will be held at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 9-10 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:30 AM at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Flowers are welcome and may be delivered to the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Manor, 1200 Spring St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
