Cecelia A. Mies, 87, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at 3:30 a.m. in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem.
She was the wife of the late Charles E. Mies, whom she married on February 12, 1944.
Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late William E. McGuinness and Cecelia V. Carrington McGuinness. She attended Madison Elementary School and Liberty High School. She was a loving mother, a devoted wife and an amazing grandmother who loved to laugh.
Cece was a member of the Home of the Good Samaritan and worked there as a cook and waitress. She was a member of University Parish of Holy Ghost, Bethlehem.
She was predeceased by a son, Charles E. Mies, Jr. She is survived by one son, Robert P. Mies, Bethlehem; and two daughters, Genevieve P., wife of Hugh Davidson, Pittsburgh; and Joanne C., wife of Frank W. Sarnes, Jr., Sinking Spring; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Miltenberger, Bethlehem; and a brother, Eugene McGuinness, Corpus Christi, TX.
Friends and relatives are invited to call this evening from 6-8 p.m. with a service at 8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. There will be an additional visitation Thursday, from 9:30-10 a.m. at funeral home. Interment will be on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 212 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
