Cecelia H. Sauer

Cecelia Sauer, 91, of Bethlehem, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg with her family at her bedside. Born in Austria to the late Franz and Cecelia Yost, she came to the United States at age 7 and was a lifelong resident of Bethlehem.

Cecelia attended Liberty High School. As a teenager, she worked in the dining room at Moravian College and later in life at the Laros Company. Cecelia married her true love, Joseph M. Sauer, at Holy Ghost Church in Bethlehem on July 11, 1942. Cecelia was a faithful catholic and became an active member of St. Anne's Church, Bethlehem and later Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Bethlehem Twp. where she and Joseph were charter members. Joseph passed away in 1984.

Cecelia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was a wonderful cook. Her Christmas cookies and kiffles were family favorites. Everyone looked forward to these treats during the holidays. Happy times around her table have not been forgotten. Cecelia was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She loved sports and had enjoyed watching her grandchildren swim, play baseball, softball, soccer, field hockey and football.

Cecelia will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Joseph F. Sauer and his wife, Diann, Dr. Thomas Sauer and his wife, Linda, and daughter, Joan Wilvert and her husband, Gregg, all of Bethlehem; six grandchildren, Christopher Sauer of Bethlehem; Cory Sauer of Virginia; Dr. Scott Sauer and his wife, Kim, of Nazareth; Kristen Delaney and her husband, Jeffrey, of Pottstown; Joshua Wilvert and his wife, Jessica, of Nazareth; Katie Wilvert of Bethlehem; and seven great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brynn Delaney, Jake, Logan and Avery Sauer, and Mason and Braden Wilvert.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020 with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. There will be an evening visitation on Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
