Cecile I. Becker

October 10, 1925 — June 13, 2014

Cecile I. “Inge “ Becker, of Bethlehem, passed away, 13 June 2014 at Kirkland Village. She was the wife of Melvin Becker and was married for 68 years until her death. They were married in Miramas, France on 4 June 1946. Inge was born and raised in Basel, Switzerland. In 1945 (during WW II), while working in a department store she met Mel during his tour of duty with the U.S. Army. They had a storybook love affair stealing moments of time between his duties in the army.

Inge sadly left her mother, Cecile Gobet of Basel; became a U.S. citizen and spent the rest of her life in the U.S. She lived in Boston, Baltimore and Bethlehem during those years. She was a dedicated, caring mother of three children; Bruce, Karen and Mark and grandmother of six. She was a very active member of Saucon Valley CC and was heavily involved in the social and recreational activities; especially golf, at the club. She skied and ran/walked, actually wining a 5K in her age group. She was a great cook; her Swiss/European deserts and candies were outstanding, and she and Mel traveled the world. There wasnt a book she had not read. She lived life to the fullest and provided a great template for us all to follow.

Mother/Grandmother - Thank you for everything. You will be sorely missed and our world will not be the same without you. You provided the skills and knowledge for us to thrive in our own lives and our memory of you will guide us through the future. We love you. Go in peace.

Survivors: Her husband, Melvin Becker of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Mark Becker of Aliso Viejo, California; Karen Richardson, her husband Thomas and four kids, Joshua, Christopher, Marc and Samantha of Denver, Colorado; Bruce Becker, his wife Nancy and two kids, Gretchen and Brian of Center Valley, Pennsylvania.
