Charles B. Sweigard

Charles B. Sweigard, 82, passed away on September 1, 2021 at his home in Bethlehem, PA. He was born on May 06, 1939 in Allentown, PA to the late Charles and Virgina (Pearl) Sweigard. Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Paula A. (Wertman) Sweigard. They would have shared 54 years of marriage in November of this year.

Charles proudly served in the US Army Reserve. After graduating high school and many hours working and learning, Charles enjoyed a long career as an electrical journeyman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 375. A title that he shared with his father.

Charles will be lovingly remembered as a funny and sometimes stubborn man who always made his family the most important aspect of his life. Charles enjoyed sports. He played softball with the IBEW, basketball, jogged with the dogs, fished, and appreciated his time in the pool; especially when it involved his children and grandchildren. Charles found great peace in visiting the beach, where he would bake in the Sun. Atlantic City was one of his favorite beach destinations. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, as well as the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Charles will be dearly missed by his wife, Paula; daughters, Erica Jefferson, Kristina Leidy, and Monica Krause; his grandchildren, Lauren and spouse, Nathan, Daniel, Adrienne, Jillian, Kiersten, Kamerynn, and Madison; great grandchildren, Kadence, Kaleigh, and Noelle; sister, Shelia Peters; and brother, Michael Sweigard.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will be private.
