Charles F. Zavecz

Charles F. Zavecz, 96, of Freemansburg, died on December 6, 2022. He was born October 13, 1926, in Bethlehem, son of the late John and Teresa (Talaber) Zavecz, and stepson to the late Andrew Markacs. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Julia M. (Korpics) Snell Zavecz.

Charlie was raised in the Southside of Bethlehem. He was a graduate of Bethlehem Vo-Tech and proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. He retired after 39 years of service as a machinist from the Bethlehem Steel Co. Central Tool Shop.

He was a former parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and more recently, St. Annes Catholic Church. Charlie was a member of the Tammany Democratic Club, loved ballroom dancing in his younger years, was an excellent craftsman, and enjoyed working around the house.

He will be dearly missed by his stepdaughter, SandraLee Gerencher and her husband, William; stepson, Dennis Snell and his wife, Mary Ann all of Bethlehem; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Charlie was predeceased by his siblings, William, Anne, and John.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home. A viewing will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, from 10-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
