Charles J. Sciascia, Sr., 93, of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. He was born November 9, 1923 in Phillipsburg, NJ; son of the late Vincenzo and Josephine (Amore) Sciascia.
After graduation from Phillipsburg High School in 1941, Charles proudly served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge he enlisted in the US Air Force Reserves, attaining the rank of Major.
Charles was a talented dental equipment repair technician/trouble-shooter along with being an overall Jack-Of-All-Trades, who helped anyone, anytime or anywhere. He was a gracious and kind man, a devoted Servant of God, and had a deep love of Family and Mankind. He was a member of the Air Force Association, Scout Master for the Boys Scouts Miller Heights Troop 46 and the Explorers and he was a former secretary of the MORA Club of Bethlehem.
Charles will be greatly missed by his children, Laureen P. Taylor of Bethlehem Twp.; Michael C. Sciascia of Bethlehem; Charles J. Sciascia, Jr. and his wife, Jacqueline of San Antonio, TX and Brenda J. Dennis of Bethlehem; brothers James Sciascia of New Village, NJ and Thomas Sciascia and wife Nancy of Harmony Twp., NJ; grandchildren, Stephen (Julie) and Jonathan (Nick) Taylor of CA, Lauren (Chris) Nikkel of TX and Jeremy (Nimisha) Sciascia of AZ; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte Marchione, Mary Bianco and Marguerite Rounsaville and his brother, Salvatore.
His family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of ManorCare Old Orchard of Bethlehem Twp. for the care and kindness they gave to our beloved Charlie during his stay there.
The family will receive guests from 2-4 p.m. Sunday January 15 at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a service to immediately follow. Military burial will be held privately.
