Charles S. Horvath, 93, of Philadelphia died on Tuesday February 22, 2011 at the Philadelphia VA Nursing Home. Born in Bethlehem on October 19, 1917, he was the son of the late Charles and Caroline Sczvetecz Horvath.
He dedicated his life to his country, retiring from the Marine Corps with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his career he served in WWII, where he was taken a P.O.W., and also served in the Korean Conflict. After his retirement his was employed at the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard.
He is survived by his son, Stephen, daughters, Lucille and Carolyn, brother, Joseph, sisters, Susan and Theresa, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Frank, and sister, Irene.
A viewing hour will be held on Monday February 28th from 10 to 11 a.m., in the funeral home. A funeral service will follow beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
