Charles W. Babich, 93, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 01, 2016 at Saint Peters Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Born in Dunmore, PA November 18, 1922; he was the son of the late Basil and Helena (Sip) Babich. He was the devoted husband of Anna (Doncsecz) Babich; they celebrated their 69th anniversary in April.
Charles was employed by the Bethlehem Steel where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Navy Seaman 1st Class who honorably served during WWII in the Pacific Theatre, aboard the USS Bache and USS Gregory. He was a member of St. Ursula Catholic Church and past member of their Holy Name Society. He was also a former member of the Golden Hillers and the American Legion Post 406, Fountain Hill, PA.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Anna; son, Charles and wife Kathleen of Princeton, NJ; sister, Emma Todaro of New Hope, PA; grandsons, Timothy and wife Monica, and Daniel and wife Luisa; great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Elijah, Joseph, and Catherine. He was predeceased by his brothers, George and John; and sisters, Anna Micolochick and Margaret Babich.
Visitation will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Saturday, June 4, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Ursula Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway, Fountain Hill. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
