Charles Hasenecz, 84, of Bethlehem died on October 10, 2011.
He was born in Bethlehem; the son of the late George and Mary Munda Hasenecz.
Charlie earned his B.A. in English from Moravian College and his M.A. Ed from Lehigh University.
He taught English in the Bethlehem Area School District for over 35 years. He was awarded to the Fulbright Exchange Teaching Program three times during his career. During that time he earned a certificate from the University of Michigan to teach English as a second language. He taught in Greece, Israel and Cyprus.
Charlie was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Bethlehem; where he was the Choir Director for over 40 years, retiring in 1987.
Charlie also volunteered for many years at St. Luke's Hospital where he dedicated over 5000 hours and was an actor at the Pennsylvania Play House.
He is survived by his sisters, Olga Doncvic of Hellertown and Kathryn Bilsak of Bethlehem and his brothers, Alex of Bethlehem and Andrew of Rieglesville and his nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Mudri, Helen Szemenyei, Agnes Bluder, Anna Banash and Pauline Radchuk and brothers, George, Daniel and Edward.
