Clare B. Skomitz, 97, of Bath, PA, formerly of Bethlehem, died on Thursday, June 16, 2016. She was born in Bethlehem, the daughter of the late, James and Mary (Ford) Bellew. She was the devoted wife to Stephen M. Skomitz, Sr. They were married 40 years before his death in 1981.
Clare worked for Bethlehem Steel as a typist. She was a church worker, Girl Scout Leader and former chairlady for the South Bethlehem Girl Scouts. She loved reading and baking, but most of all, spending time with her two grandsons whom she adored. Clare was a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rosemary Skomitz, wife of Ronald Stouffer of Mt. Penn and Eileen, wife of Clifford Thomas of Moore Twp. With whom she resided; her grandsons, Justin Thomas husband of Rose and Kevin Thomas husband of Nicole and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen M. Skomitz, Jr. and 10 brothers and sisters.
A viewing will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Holy Infancy Church or to St. Lukes Hospice, 240 Union Station Plaza 1st Floor, Bethlehem, PA 18015, or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
