Corey “The General” Hanson, 57, touched the lives of many people around him and will be remembered by all. He was the life of the party and then some, from his boisterous voice to his intimidating “Pennsylvania Man Beard, ” he could make a friend anywhere and at any time. From his time as a boy in Sayerville, NJ, to a Radio station deejay, to a Yankee Season Ticket Holder, to an employee of the USPS, his friendships were numerous and long lasting. (Too numerous to mention individually, but you all know who you are!). Once you were a friend of Corey’s, you were never forgotten.
A lover of the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers, he faithfully cheered on his favorite teams and was their #1 fan.
He was one of the hardest workers you could ever meet, having worked for the USPS for nearly 25 years and also serving as Union President, fighting for the rights and protections of his fellow employees.
Not only a fighter at work, but a fighter in life and health, Corey battled many diseases that broke his body, but never his spirit. His stubbornness pushed him to learn how to walk again, drive again, live and thrive again, despite his many ailments.
Corey was loved by his children, Andrew 18, and Annmarie 14, who were his greatest joy and accomplishment, the Light in his eyes and his reason for living. He is also survived by his loving brother, Daryn Hanson who was always his voice of reason, his father in law, Allan Grohman; and his brother and sister in law James Grohman and Angelina Forte. He was the husband and partner to Dawn, having spent nearly 30 adventurous years together. Most importantly he was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Bethlehem PA. A faithful steward of his religion, he is finally at Peace with the Lord.
He will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
