Daniel F. Megenhardt

Daniel F. Megenhardt, 88, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke's in Bethlehem. He was born in Catasauqua, PA and is the son of the late Frederick D. and Anna Tate Megenhardt. Daniel is the husband of Shirley A. Fink Megenhardt with whom he celebrated their 64th anniversary this past June.

Daniel served in the U. S. Marine Corps, 3rd Marine Division during WW II in the South Pacific Area he participated in action against the enemy at Bougainville, S.I. Nov. 17, 1943 to Jan.14, 1944, Guam, M.I. July 21, 1944 to Aug. 10, 1944, Iwo Jima, V.I. Feb. 21, 1945 to March 16, 1945. He received an Honorable Service Lapel Button for his service.

Daniel was an oil delivery man for Dual Temp Oil Co. retiring in 1987 after 35 years service. Daniel was a Charter member of the WW II Memorial in Washington D.C. and a member of the Nazareth American Legion Post 415. He was an avid hunter and fishermen and devoted family man.

Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley of Bethlehem, daughter Linda A.M. Detrixhe and husband Julius, Jr. of Bethlehem, son Dannie J. Megenhardt of Lower Nazareth, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Family and friends may call at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM.

Burial following service at Holy Saviour Cemetery
