Daniel J. Cherkis

Daniel Joseph Cherkis, ,77, of Freemansburg, PA more recently of Bethlehem, PA passed away on May 31, 2021 at St. Lukes Hospital Bethlehem Campus. He was the son of the late John and Agnes (Tanzock) Cherkis.

Daniel was a graduate of Liberty High School class of 1962. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. For 30 years, Daniel was the Sexton at First Presbyterian Church in Bethlehem. Daniel was an avid golfer and enjoyed target shooting at the Lappawinzo Club. He also enjoyed cruising with his classic cars and was a member of the Lehigh Valley Thunderbird Club. Dan was also a member of the Jefferson Democratic Club and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles both in Bethlehem.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Edward Cherkis and his wife, Roberta Rose and many cousins and extended family.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the impeccable care given to Daniel by the ICU team and the entire 6th floor at St. Lukes Hospital Bethlehem Campus.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
